Set this 6-inch Empire 170 swivel with a swivel lock on an economical tow-line that needs to switch between maneuvering and straight-line travel.

A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks dead straight when engaged, then releases to swivel again. It stops the swivel from turning, not the wheel from rolling, which keeps a towed cart from wandering down a line. The green round polyurethane tread is the standard firm durometer, non-marking and easy-rolling for everyday loads, and the PM build carries up to 1,250 pounds at this size with kingpinless durability. At 6 inches the larger wheel rolls over seams. It runs on a precision ball bearing, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 7-1/2-inch mount height, and holds from -40 to 180°F.
