Polypropylene Casters

Polypropylene absorbs zero moisture — none. Unlike phenolic (which swells) or steel (which rusts), polypropylene maintains its exact dimensions, load capacity, and structural integrity whether it is bone dry or continuously submerged. This makes it the top choice for washdown facilities, commercial kitchens, marine environments, outdoor applications, and anywhere water is constantly present.

Polypropylene resists most acids, bases, salts, alcohols, and many organic solvents. It performs well in contact with bleach, ammonia, detergents, and the sanitizing agents common in food processing and healthcare. It has limited resistance to strong oxidizing acids and certain aromatic or chlorinated solvents. Contact our team for specific chemical compatibility verification.

Polypropylene casters in our catalog support 100 to 800 lbs per caster. This covers light-to-medium duty applications including janitorial carts, food service equipment, utility dollies, and mobile storage. For heavier loads in similar environments, nylon casters offer higher capacity with comparable chemical and moisture resistance.

Both materials resist chemicals and moisture effectively. Polypropylene is lighter, more economical, and adequate for loads up to 800 lbs. Nylon handles significantly heavier loads (up to 5,000 lbs), offers a wider temperature range, and provides greater impact resistance. Choose polypropylene when budget and corrosion resistance are the priority at moderate loads; choose nylon when you need higher capacity or wider temperature tolerance.
