Caster Bumpers

Rubber bumpers provide strong shock absorption and work well in standard warehouse and institutional environments. Polyurethane bumpers are more resistant to abrasion, chemicals, oils, and UV exposure, making them the better choice for harsh or outdoor conditions. Polyurethane also tends to last longer under high-frequency impact.

Most caster bumpers attach with bolts through pre-drilled mounting holes in the bumper's metal backing plate. Some models also offer adhesive-backed installation for lighter-duty applications. Bolt-on mounting is recommended for carts that see frequent, heavy contact.

Bumpers significantly reduce wall and door damage by absorbing and distributing impact forces, but they do not eliminate it entirely under extreme conditions. For high-traffic corridors, combining cart bumpers with wall-mounted corner guards and kick plates provides the most comprehensive protection.

Measure the areas of your cart that make contact with walls and door frames. The bumper should extend far enough from the cart frame that it is the first point of contact during a collision. For corner bumpers, match the profile to your cart's corner dimensions and ensure the bumper wraps enough to cover typical impact angles.

Both materials mount securely to cart frames, platform edges, and equipment corners using bolts or adhesive backing.

Consider bumper placement based on how your carts are used. Corner-mounted guards protect the points most likely to strike door frames and wall corners during turns. Side-rail bumpers shield walls along corridors and loading areas. For equipment that docks at workstations, front-facing bumpers cushion the contact zone and prevent damage to both the cart and the receiving surface. Measure your cart frame dimensions and choose bumpers with a profile tall enough to be the first point of contact.
