Replace Parts, Not Entire Casters

Every caster assembly depends on hardware that takes a beating: axles bear the rolling load, bearings reduce friction, bolts hold plates secure, and brake components keep everything locked in place when needed. When these parts wear out, you do not always need a full caster replacement. The right piece of mounting hardware can restore performance at a fraction of the cost.

Frequently Asked Questions About Caster Hardware

Measure the distance between bolt hole centers, both length and width. Also measure the overall plate dimensions and bolt hole diameter. Common patterns include 2-3/8" x 3-5/8" and 3-1/4" x 4-1/8", but many other sizes exist. Match these measurements to the specifications listed on our replacement plates.

Replace just the bearings when the wheel and frame are still in good condition but the caster has developed rough rolling, wobble, or increased noise. If the fork (yoke), wheel surface, or axle are also damaged, a full caster replacement is usually more cost-effective.

A toe guard is a metal or rubber shield mounted at the front of the caster fork to deflect debris and prevent objects (or toes) from getting caught under the wheel. They are required in many industrial and food-service environments for safety compliance and are recommended anywhere carts operate near personnel.

We stock aftermarket brake kits designed to retrofit onto many common swivel caster models. Check the product listing for compatibility with your caster's fork width and wheel size. If you are unsure, send us your caster dimensions and we can recommend a compatible kit.

Caster Mounting Hardware and Replacement Components

Caster Central carries a complete selection of caster hardware including top plates in standard and custom bolt patterns, hex bolts and lock nuts in common caster sizes, replacement axles for swivel and rigid assemblies, precision and standard bearings, aftermarket brake kits, and toe guards for fork protection. Every component is manufactured to OEM specifications so you get a reliable fit with your existing caster rigs.

Before ordering, identify the specific part you need by disassembling the worn caster and measuring critical dimensions. For top plates, measure the bolt hole pattern and overall plate size. For axles, measure the diameter and length. For bearings, note the bore size, outer diameter, and width. Having these measurements on hand ensures you receive the correct replacement the first time. If you are upgrading rather than replacing, our product listings include load ratings and material specs to help you select a stronger component where needed.
