Polyurethane Wheels

Yes. Polyurethane wheels are one of the most reliably non-marking wheel materials available. They leave no black marks, rust stains, or chemical residue on floors. Light-colored polyurethane treads offer the best non-marking performance. Even dark-colored formulations are significantly better than rubber in terms of floor marking.

For general-purpose use, 85A to 95A durometer provides a good balance of floor protection and load capacity. For maximum floor protection and noise reduction, choose 70A to 80A (softer). For maximum load capacity and lowest rolling resistance, choose 95A and above (harder). Our product listings include durometer specifications for each wheel.

Polyurethane wheels have higher load capacity, three to five times the abrasion resistance, and better chemical resistance than rubber. Rubber wheels provide softer cushioning, quieter operation at low speeds, and better performance on rough surfaces. Polyurethane is preferred when tread longevity, load capacity, and floor protection are priorities. Rubber is preferred for maximum shock absorption and minimum noise.

Polyurethane resists casual contact with oils, greases, and hydraulic fluids. However, prolonged immersion in petroleum-based products can soften and swell certain polyurethane formulations over time.
