A face brake presses a shoe against the wheel to stop it, holding a loaded cart on its spot. The AX build is the value version of the Empire 170, with kingpinless durability and up to 700 pounds of capacity at this size, and the maroon round-profile polyurethane tread is non-marking and easy-rolling on a lightweight aluminum core. It steers on a precision ball bearing, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 5-5/8-inch mount height, and holds from -40 to 180°F.
