About This Axle Bolt - P10626
This is the Stainless Steel axle, a 3/8-inch by 2-3/8 inch bolt with a grease zerk and matching nut, for washdown and corrosive-service casters where a plated axle rusts and seizes inside the hub.
In a wet bay the axle is the part that fails out of sight: water wicks into the hub, a plated bolt corrodes against the bearing, and the wheel locks or drops while the caster body still looks fine. Stainless holds up to the daily hose-down and caustic that eat carbon steel, and the zerk still lets you grease the bearing on schedule. Use it to rebuild food-service, pharmaceutical, and marine casters rather than dropping a standard axle into a wet application where it will not last.
