About This Caster - 170TM04201SFBBL
Choose this 4-inch Empire 170 phenolic swivel with combined face brake and swivel lock when a cart works in extreme cold or around solvents, then has to park dead still.
This is the total-lock build: the face brake stops the wheel and the swivel lock holds the swivel, so a loaded cart cannot roll or rotate when set. The wheel is phenolic, a hard resin-bonded composite that takes -65 to 250°F and shrugs off oils, solvents, and water where rubber and plastic would swell or degrade. It is hard with no cushioning, so it rolls easily on smooth hard floors but transmits shock, can mark, and is best kept off soft or debris-strewn surfaces. At 4 inches it carries up to 800 pounds on a roller bearing, turns on a kingpinless welded raceway, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a low 5-5/8-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
