Choose this 4-inch braked swivel for an institutional cart that has to stay braked on its own, where the brake cannot be allowed to vibrate loose and let the cart roll off while it is parked.
The face brake clamps the wheel and the brake-lock holds the brake engaged, so the cart stays put even on a cart that gets bumped or works a slight grade. The wheel is tough glass-filled polypropylene, impact-resistant and chemical-tolerant to 250°F with no steel to rust, and the roller bearing carries the load. It is the lockable-brake institutional swivel of the 170 Series.
Ideal applications
- Institutional carts that must stay braked between uses, finished floor
- Rigs parked on a slight grade where a brake could shake loose, sealed floor
- Chemical-area carts needing a tough wheel and a locking brake, to 250°F
Skip the glass-filled wheel if the floor runs near 800°F; a cast iron 170CA holds to far higher heat where polypropylene reaches its limit.
