Pick this 4-inch Empire 170 rigid when you need a tough, low-cost wheel that shrugs off heat and chemicals on a straight-line cart.
The wheel is glass-filled polypropylene, a stiff reinforced plastic that handles -20 to 250°F and resists washdown chemicals and corrosion, which makes it a practical choice for wet or caustic areas where steel rusts and rubber breaks down. It is hard with no cushioning, so it rolls easily on smooth floors but transmits shock and can mark, and at 4 inches it carries up to 800 pounds on a roller bearing built for steady manual pushing. The rigid fork tracks straight only and bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a low 5-5/8-inch mount height, with a kingpinless welded raceway and zinc-plated finish.
