The tread is mold-on rubber bonded to a cast iron core, cushioning the load and running quietly while the iron center carries the weight. Its full 3-inch face is the widest at 6 inches, spreading a heavy load over the most contact area for a stable, high-capacity wheel that still rides soft on rough floors. The cushioning absorbs shock, with the trade that the rubber can chunk under severe overload and black rubber may mark a light floor. It rides on a roller bearing and holds from -45 to 180°F.
