Quiet and capacity usually trade against each other: a soft quiet wheel gives up load, and a hard load wheel rumbles. The Silent Glide tread is a firm polyurethane bonded to a rigid aluminum core, so it carries a real load and rolls easy on a precision ball bearing while the polyurethane keeps the roll quiet and non-marking on a lobby or ward floor. The aluminum core will not deflect under the load the way a plastic hub does, so the push stays light. The standard durometer favors load and low rolling resistance.
