Reach for this 8-inch Empire 170 swivel with a swivel lock and roller bearing when the heaviest tow-line cart needs to steer, then run straight down a long line.

A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks straight when engaged, then releases to maneuver again, keeping the heaviest towed cart from wandering on a long run. It locks the swivel, not the wheel, so the cart keeps rolling when held. The wheel is solid elastomer, a tough rubber-like compound that absorbs shock and runs quietly without going flat, grey and non-marking on finished floors. The roller bearing is built for heavier sustained pushing and towing, and at 8 inches the caster carries up to 1,200 pounds and takes -40 to 230°F. The swivel turns on a kingpinless welded raceway, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 9-1/2-inch mount height, and is zinc plated.
