For equipment loads, divide total weight by the number of casters and select wheels rated at least 30% above that figure to account for uneven weight distribution and dynamic loading.

No. Polyurethane is inherently non-marking and will not scuff, stain, or gouge concrete, epoxy-coated, tile, hardwood, or VCT flooring. This makes them one of the most popular choices for facilities where floor appearance and integrity matter, including retail, healthcare, and food service environments.

Polyurethane carries significantly higher loads (often 3-4x more than rubber at the same wheel size), resists abrasion 3-5x longer, and offers lower rolling resistance. Rubber provides slightly better shock absorption and quieter operation at low speeds. Choose polyurethane when load capacity, durability, and chemical resistance are priorities; choose rubber when vibration dampening and ultra-quiet rolling on smooth floors are the primary concern.

Standard polyurethane casters operate from -20 degrees F to 180 degrees F. Within this range, the material maintains its elasticity, load rating, and floor-safe properties. For sustained exposure above 180 degrees F, consider phenolic or metal wheels instead.
