Pick this 1-inch ball transfer when a thin or lightly built table is tapped for a 1/4-20 stud, the smallest mounting thread in this stud group.

The carbon-steel load ball rolls on a bed of smaller steel balls in a housing, so a sheet, tray, or light box on top glides in any direction and turns in place without being lifted. The 1/4-20 threaded stud an inch long is the finest of the three sizes, which suits a thin panel or a light fixture where a coarser stud would need a bigger hole than the material can take. The carbon-steel ball is for a dry indoor surface and would rust if the line runs wet.
