Measure the inside diameter (for round tubing) or inside width and height (for square or rectangular tubing) of the leg or frame where the socket will be inserted. Then match those dimensions to the socket's outside profile listed in the product specifications. A snug press-fit is what holds the socket in place.

Grip ring sockets have a smooth bore that accepts a caster stem with a grip ring collar. The ring compresses during insertion and then expands to lock the stem in place, allowing easy removal and reinstallation.
