About This Caster Socket - 003313-20
Use this socket to give an angle-iron frame a mount for a 7/16-inch grip-ring stem caster where the leg itself has no round hole to press into.
A grip-ring stem caster needs a round socket to seat in, and this one is built for the inside angle of a frame: it weld-on or bolt-on into the inside corner of angle-iron framing, and its bore receives a 7/16-inch grip-ring stem so the caster presses in and the expanding ring holds. The steel is left unplated, so the bare surface takes a clean weld without zinc to burn off, and it can be primed and painted to match the frame afterward. It is the fabrication answer for hanging a grip-ring caster on a welded angle frame.
Ideal applications
- Angle-iron frames with no round hole for a grip-ring stem
- Inside-corner mounts welded or bolted onto a fabricated leg
- Retrofitting a 7/16-inch grip-ring caster to a welded frame
Confirm the caster uses a 7/16-inch grip-ring stem before ordering, or the stem will not seat in this socket.
Pairs with: a 7/16-inch grip-ring stem caster pressed into the socket once it is welded or bolted to the frame.
Wrong fit? Running a threaded stem or a flat frame? A threaded socket or a top-plate caster mounts differently. See the Shepherd collection.
