They are found in steel mills, stamping plants, heavy manufacturing, and distribution centers handling palletized or bulk loads.

Individual 8 inch wheels in our inventory are rated up to 5,000 lbs, depending on the material and core construction. On a four-wheel cart, that supports total loads up to 20,000 lbs. For loads above 5,000 lbs per wheel, contact our team for specialty options.

Yes. The 8 inch diameter is specifically advantageous on rough, cracked, or debris-covered surfaces. The larger circumference rolls over floor imperfections, expansion joints, dock plates, and small debris that would catch or damage smaller wheels. For the roughest conditions, consider rubber or polyurethane treads for added resilience.

For heavy loads and frequent movement, tapered roller bearings or precision ball bearings are recommended. These bearing types handle both radial and thrust loads, reduce rolling resistance, and extend wheel service life under sustained heavy use. Plain bore is acceptable only for infrequently moved static equipment.

Polyurethane on iron or aluminum cores provides a strong combination of load capacity, floor protection, and abrasion resistance for facilities that need both performance and surface care. Forged steel and cast iron wheels handle the highest static loads and serve well under extremely heavy, slow-moving equipment. Rubber on iron offers shock absorption for loads sensitive to vibration during transport across rough surfaces.
