The Albion A-Line Series is one of the most widely specified caster lines in North American industrial facilities, and for good reason. Engineered as a medium-to-heavy duty platform, A-Line casters bridge the gap between economy-grade hardware and specialized heavy-duty rigs, making them the right choice for the majority of material handling, manufacturing, and warehouse applications.

Frequently Asked Questions About A-Line Series Casters

Individual A-Line casters handle approximately 300 lbs to 1,250 lbs depending on wheel diameter, wheel material, and bearing type. For a four-caster setup, total load capacity can exceed 4,000 lbs. Always calculate per-caster load as total weight divided by three (not four) to account for uneven weight distribution.

Polyurethane wheels are the most popular for smooth concrete floors because they combine load capacity with floor protection. Choose phenolic for maximum capacity on smooth surfaces, rubber for shock absorption and noise reduction, nylon for chemical resistance, and cast iron for extreme temperatures or very heavy loads on steel rails.

The A-Line Series offers top plate (bolt-on), bolt hole (single-bolt kingpin), and expanding adapter (stem insert) mounting configurations. Top plate is the most common for carts and racks. Expanding adapters work well for tubular-leg furniture and equipment.

A-Line casters with rubber or polyurethane wheels perform well on outdoor surfaces like sealed concrete, asphalt, and dock areas. For prolonged outdoor exposure or corrosive environments, consider upgrading to stainless steel or zinc-plated hardware, or look at the Defender D4 Series for full corrosion resistance.
