About This Caster - 62FR06201R

Bolt this 6-inch ductile iron rigid to the back corners of a heavy transfer cart that takes drops and impacts across a steel-plate or foundry floor, where an ordinary grey cast iron wheel cracks the first time a load lands hard on it.

Ductile iron is the reason it survives. Where grey cast iron is brittle and chips under shock, ductile iron flexes slightly and absorbs the hit without fracturing, so the wheel takes dropped loads and forklift bumps that would split a standard iron wheel. It runs on a roller bearing for heavy rolling and holds its rating across the full heat range a foundry or heat-treat line throws at it, to 800°F. As a rigid it tracks the cart straight while the front swivels steer.

• Foundry and forge transfer carts, back corners, 800°F-range heat, steel-plate floor
• Heavy die and mold trucks that take dropped loads, debris-strewn aisles
• Heat-treat staging rigs under impact loading, multi-shift

Skip ductile iron if the floor is finished and cannot take a marking wheel; a polyurethane or phenolic 62 Series wheel rolls non-marking where impact and 800°F heat are not the problem.
