Set this 5-inch Empire 170 cast iron swivel with a swivel lock on a foundry or oven tow-line that needs to switch between maneuvering and straight-line travel.

A swivel lock holds the swivel from rotating so the caster tracks dead straight when engaged, then releases to swivel again. It stops the swivel from turning, not the wheel from rolling, which keeps a towed cart from wandering down a line. At 5 inches the larger wheel clears thresholds, and the cast iron wheel holds from -100 to 800°F where rubber and poly cannot go, with the trade that it is hard, noisy, and damages a soft floor. It is built kingpinless with no central kingpin to fail, runs on a roller bearing, bolts on a 4 by 4-1/2-inch top plate at a 6-1/2-inch mount height, and holds from -100 to 800°F.
