About This Wheel - 41EE42-01
Specify this 4-inch cast iron wheel for a cart that runs near heat in a tight space, where a polyurethane or rubber tread softens and chunks but solid iron carries the load to 500°F.
Heat is what rules elastomer wheels out: a poly tread melts and a rubber tread hardens and cracks near an oven or a furnace, and the wheel fails right where it is hardest to reach. Solid cast iron has nothing to soften, so it carries a high load class through the heat and over hot chips and weld spatter that would cut a softer wheel. At 4 inches it keeps a deck low while still taking the punishment. The roller bearing carries the load through slow moves. It is heavy, loud, and marks the floor.
Ideal applications
- Oven and proofer rack rolled into heat to 500°F, hard floor
- Low cart near a furnace where poly treads melt
- Hot-chip or weld area that cuts a softer wheel
Skip cast iron if the floor is finished or quiet matters; a HI-TECH polyurethane wheel rolls non-marking and soft below its heat limit.
Pairs with: a matching 4-inch by 2-inch caster fork to build a swivel or rigid caster, from the Caster Hardware collection.
Wrong fit? Finished floors, or higher load width? See the HI-TECH 41JH42-03 and the wide-tread 50EE43-02.
Also in this family: the 5-inch cast iron 41EE52-01 and 6-inch cast iron 41EE62-01, or the cast iron wheel collection.
