Dual-Wheel Casters

Dual-wheel casters distribute load over two contact patches instead of one, reducing floor pressure per square inch. They produce a lower overall height than a single larger wheel at equivalent capacity, and they provide better stability on slightly uneven surfaces because each wheel tracks independently. They also tend to roll with less effort because the smaller wheels have lower rolling resistance.

Yes. The reduced per-wheel load means less point pressure on the floor, which helps prevent indentations, cracking, and wear on softer surfaces like vinyl tile, epoxy-coated concrete, and hardwood. Pair dual-wheel casters with polyurethane or rubber treads for maximum floor protection.

Our dual-wheel casters range from approximately 200 lbs to over 900 lbs per caster. The total capacity is the combined rating of both wheels within the caster housing. Individual wheel capacities are typically 100-450 lbs each, depending on size and material.

Dual-wheel casters can work on low-pile commercial carpet, but deep or plush carpet may cause the smaller wheels to sink and resist rolling. For carpeted environments, choose the largest available dual-wheel diameter and a harder tread material like nylon. Single-wheel casters with larger diameters generally perform better on thick carpet.
