About This Mounting Plate - 52000-23
Use this 4 by 4-1/2 inch steel plate to give a frame a flat, square caster mount where there is none to bolt to.
It is a weld-on plate: you set it on the leg or rail of a fabricated cart, machine base, or custom rig and weld it down, which leaves a top-plate surface a standard 4 by 4-1/2 inch caster can bolt to. The steel is left unplated, so the bare surface takes a clean weld without zinc to burn off, and it can be primed and painted to match the frame afterward. It is the fabrication answer for retrofitting casters onto a structure that was never built to carry them.
Ideal applications
- Fabricated carts and machine bases with no existing caster mount
- Retrofitting top-plate casters onto a welded steel frame
- Custom rigs where the leg must be capped with a flat bolting surface
If the frame already has a flat, drilled surface, bolt the caster on directly; a weld-on plate is for structures that have none.
